Resources

This is a list of my favorite places to go to for help, motivation, knowledge and entertainment.

MOVEMENT

If you 'Ask Jeeves' what movements are needed for all around strength - You will receive back 7-9 different categories that your movement selections should fall into - You will be served best by incorporating all of these areas.

I have settled on the following 8 categories:

Squat - Hinge - Lunge - Press - Pull - Carry - Locomotion - Rotate

Squat, fairly standard, every time we sit down and stand up we are squatting. Hinge, every time you pick something off the ground or any surface  that causes you to bend over you are hinging Lunge, try to get off the ground without some version of a lunge, they sneak into our day. Press, push yourself up off the ground, bed, chair. Pull, get the milk out of the refrigerator, groceries out of the back of the car , we are pulling. Carry, lets go back to the groceries, luggage, kids, everyday we get to carry something. Locomotion, basic movement, walk, jog, row, bike, anything that allows you to carry on a conversation. Rotate, most all of these movements happen with some rotation of our trunk.

Each month we will be exploring a category, relaying all the different versions you can apply to your weekly routine. Finding the one that suits you today.

FOOD

When you hear 'healthy food' what is your gut reaction? Do you cringe? Roll your eyes? Think, yup I need to eat healthier.

Our day to day is overwhelmed with different messages about food, from mouth watering ads for cheeseburgers, to tacos, to chips and cookies, all those weird fruit things that make your tongue curl up. Or maybe you have made the decision to choose healthy foods - the sneer you can be greeted with when you say you will pass on the burger and fries in favor of a salad and chicken breast sandwich - oof that one hurts.

A goal that is working well for me, is to simply eat real food. To frame it in my head that it is real food. If I went to my kitchen I could make this. 100% it will not be as good BUT that is my skill not the foods' fault. My Brownie Brittle could be accomplished with a second try.

The relation of the foods we eat and beverages we drink to how we feel day to day, is bigger than any other choice we make everyday. It can be a relatively easy self experiment, work to add an extra glass of water and an extra real food to your daily intake. See where it leads you and what differences you notice.
